Gunshots fired in celebration to celebrate a wedding claimed the life of a young in the Peerabad area of the city in the early hour of Sunday, police said.

Peerabad police station officials have arrested a suspect identified as Abdul Raheem, SHO of the precinct said.

The tragic incident follows the death of a six-year-old girl due to aerial firing at a wedding ceremony in Qayyumabad D Area, police said.

Muhammad Kamran was at the wedding of his cousin in the Qasba Colony area, when some guests started aerial firing in celebration; one of the bullets his Kamran and he died on the spot, said Peerabad SHO Waseem Ahmed.

Meanwhile, a boy was shot in the hand in a mysterious shooting incident in Frontier Colony No 2 area of ​​Peerabad. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for immediate medical treatment. The 12-year-old has been identified as Shehab, while the incident is said to have been caused by a stray bullet coming from an unknown direction.

Panic in hospital over ‘missing body’

Officials of Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital were frantically looking for a body of a woman that disappeared after being brought to the facility.

To their great relief, the guard at the emergency ward’s gate told the panicked paramedics that he saw the heirs take away the body in a private ambulance.

Police said it was a security lapse and shows how children get stolen from wards, there should be someone to check the mandatory forms before discharge from the health facility.

The woman accompanying the deceased did not complete any formality and just took away the body leaving the hospital staff perturbed over how would they explain that a dead woman walked away.

Pak Colony Police Station SHO Fida Mohammad Khan said Edhi volunteers had brought the body from the Old Golimar area of Pak Colony. The deceased, Shazia, 40, was divorced and living in squalid conditions, he said adding people considered her a drug addict.

A woman and a minor girl accompanied the body to the hospital, where doctors were to ascertain the cause of death, but it just disappeared.

The guard said that the woman who came with the body took it in a private ambulance without any legal formalities.
