The highly anticipated MTG X Marvel Secret Lair release faced unexpected delays as intense demand overwhelmed the ordering system.
While fans expected the product to sell out rapidly, the Secret Lair website crashed moments after launch, interrupting purchases.
Just five seconds after the sale went live, buyers encountered an hour-long queue, which was paused six minutes later due to technical issues. Ten minutes after the crash, Secret Lair’s official X page (formerly Twitter) acknowledged the issue, assuring customers they were working to restore the site.
Although the queue resumed about half an hour after the initial launch, customers continued to experience long wait times, with some spending over an hour in line without certainty of securing their purchase.
Thank you for your patience. The queue has reopened, and we are continuing to monitor the Secret Lair website for any issues. https://t.co/5Yoa6WcQzd

Frustrated fans took to social media, urging Wizards of the Coast to consider more accessible purchasing times, noting the noon EST launch was inconvenient for many working customers.
Some fans speculated that the crash, while frustrating, could amplify the sense of scarcity surrounding the MTG X Marvel release.
Over an hour long wait.

Can we PLEASE go back to the old Secret Lair system of print to demand? Everyone who wanted to purchase one was able to do so and there was zero wait time.#MagicTheGathering pic.twitter.com/yPfwCyCfDt
Calls for Wizards of the Coast to increase production were widespread, with many requesting that Secret Lair print enough sets to meet demand.
Despite setbacks, the MTG X Marvel drop appears to be one of the most popular Secret Lair releases to date.
