KARACHI:

The stark consequences of a domestic dispute; wife murdered, husband gets death sentence, came to fore when a Sindh High Court bench rejected the appeal of a murder convict and upheld his death sentence.

The bench headed by Justice KK Agha ruled on the appeal of a convict, Rab Nawz, against the death sentence awarded to him by a trial court that found him guilty of the murder of his wife, Shabana. The court upheld the death sentence and rejected the appeal of accused Nawaz.

According to complainant Rubina, her 28-year-old younger sister Shabana was living in her house after being annoyed with her husband.

"On August 14, 2016, Shabana's husband Nawaz came to my house in Keamari to pick her up. He just pulled out a pistol and shot my daughter in the head killing her on the spot."

The couple had four children, of them three were living with their mother while one was living with the father in Sohrab Goth.

The lower court sentenced the suspect to death in the light of statements of eyewitnesses. The suspect had filed the appeal from jail against his sentence.
