KARACHI:

The Supreme Court has yelled at Karachi Administrator, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, saying, don't try to be smart, don't give a lecture, come to the point and inform the court what constructive works have been carried out by you.

"Running city affairs is more important than speaking on a TV programme. What have you done since you became an administrator?" the CJP remarked.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed held a hearing at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry on a petition pertaining to the occupation of welfare plots of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

The chief justice inquired the Karachi administrator whether he went to see the welfare plots by himself to see the situation. "It's been a month, you should have visited," the court remarked.

Wahab said he could not pay a visit, however, progress report was submitted in the court.

The CJP remarked, "There are no parks for children. New Karachi Sector 5 is full of garbage. I was surprised to see children playing in a filthy area," the CJP said.

The administrator contended that there was also a human angle in the matter. At this, Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed inquired as to what the human angle was. "Commercial work is going on and you are talking about human angle," the court remarked, where is human angle?
