KARACHI:

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQMP) has hinted at its separation from the government and early elections.

Speaking at a meeting of MQM-P Rabita Committee and members of national and provincial assemblies, senators, representatives of former local government and town in-charges, and also talking to media people, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the MQM had joined hands with the government to save democracy. "If democracy can survive without us, then we can leave the government."

Not only the government and the army but the whole nation should be on the same page. If the nation needs, early elections should be held.

If the vote does not speak, then the road will speak, he warned, saying that country is passing through a grim situation. He pointed out that inflation is very high, where mismanagement is a main cause of inflation.

He said, the government should think about people, lives of the common men should be made easy in order to ensure their survival.

Concrete measures should also be taken to improve and promote education. Replying to a question, he said, "We have not started preparations for the elections. We will not become anyone's tool."

He further said, "Let the elected members of MQM -P and former local body representatives start their work. When the government's machinery does not resolve public problems, we will do it. We will create shadow cabinets."

He said: "Former local bodies representatives should intensify their efforts to solve public problems. Until the new local government representatives are elected, you are the LG representatives." He said that the doors of MQM-P are open to all but no condition would be accepted.
