Breast cancer cases on the rise globally: Dr Rashid

Says more oncology units will be set up in hospitals

LAHORE:

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said on Saturday that breast cancer was affecting a growing number of people globally every year.

Speaking as chief guest at a seminar on breast cancer awareness at a local hotel, the health minister said oncology units were being set up at all hospitals across the province.

In their speeches, Atomic Energy Commission of Pakistan Chairman Dr Naeem and Director Abu Bakar Shahid paid rich tribute to the services of Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid.

Dr Rashid, “I congratulate the management of Anmol Hospital for organising a great event.

Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar want to provide best health services to the people of Punjab.

“The number of breast cancer patients is increasing globally and we are setting up oncology units at all hospitals.

During my illness, my own students treated me. The bond between a doctor and a patient is very important,” she remarked.

“Through determination and resilience, one can beat cancer. I continued my work during treatment. Sickness is a trial a person faces. One should remain positive all the time,” Dr Rashid said.

“Doctors are called messiahs and through quality, treatment doctors can justify the honour entrusted in this word. A doctor must talk to his patient and discuss the method of treatment.”

The health minister said seven state-of-the-art mother and child hospitals are being set up in Punjab. “Breastfeeding must be encouraged as Allah Almighty has put all necessary nutrition needs of a child in it,” the health minister concluded.
