Tale spun around elderly substance abuse victim’s death

The deceased had a knife tied to his stomach while intoxicated and fell asleep

An elderly person, addicted to drugs, was found dead in his bed on Friday with knife stabbed in the abdomen.

The family of the victim, however, came with a bizarre explanation which the police believed and closed the case.

Ahmed Omer, 60, allegedly died of a knife wound to his stomach at his home near the Mewa Shah Graveyard in the Pak Colony area.

Upon receiving information, police and rescue workers reached to the spot and shifted the body to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital for legal formalities.

When contacted in this regard, Pak Colony Police Station SHO Fida Hussain Marwat said that Ahmed Omar’s family members claimed that he was a drug addict.

The deceased had a knife tied to his stomach while intoxicated and fell asleep.

When he did not wake up in the morning and a long time had passed, the family went to his room and saw that he was covered in blood.

He was rushed to a hospital where doctors confirmed his death after an examination.

The SHO said he died of excessive bleeding. Police handed over the body to his heirs after due process.
