GDA starts free vehicle emission testing service

Authority simultaneously launches awareness campaign about environmentally friendly tourism

NATHIAGALI:

Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) collaborated with the Transport Department on Sunday to kick off the free Vehicle Emission Testing Services (VETS).

Simultaneously, the authority launched an awareness campaign to educate the public about environmentally friendly tourism in the region - a central aim of the entire initiative.

Tourist vehicle testing was carried out, and on the first day, hundreds of vehicles were inspected free of cost.

The GDA and transport department officials distributed fitness certificates to those deemed fit.

During an awareness walk, Regional Transport Authority secretary, and VETS manager and in charge briefed the tourists about the environment and distributed pamphlets.

Various speakers said that tourism is an enormous source of growth, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council it contributes to around 10 percent of the world’s economy.”
