Govt promoting calligraphy: Buzdar

Says visual art part of Muslim heritage, culture

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that the government was actively working to promote calligraphy in Punjab as the visual art was part of Muslim heritage.

He stated this during a visit to a calligraphy exhibition at Alhamra Art Gallery on Sunday. The CM saw calligraphy art pieces made by 400 calligraphers who participated across the country in the calligraphy competition being organised in connection with Ashra Rehmatulil Alameen (PBUH).

The provincial chief executive took keen interest in the calligraphy artwork.

A total of 450 art pieces of calligraphy were displayed in the exhibition. Buzdar lauded the different mediums of calligraphy and awarded medals to position holders of the calligraphy competition including Zubair Akram, Amjad Alvi, Saeed Naz and Habibullah, Anwar Zaib from Peshawar, Ammar Iqbal from Multan and Waqas Yahya from Kasur. Punjab Information Secretary Raja Jahangir Anwar presented an art piece to the CM.

Punjab Minister of Culture Khayal Ahmed Castro, Auqaf secretary, DGPR and a large number of people were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the CM met MPAs from different districts at his office. The lawmakers apprised the chief minister about the problems of their respective areas on which Buzdar assured them the early solution of their problems.

“The opposition has always misled the nation whereas the incumbent government has focused on resolving the basic problems of the people. The PTI-led government prioritised composite development of all areas.”
