Covid positivity falls below 2%
The national Covid-19 positivity ratio fell below 2% for a third time this week, the single-day tally of new cases came down to less than 900, according to the daily update of the coronavirus pandemic, issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Saturday.
The NCOC, which serves as the nerve centre of the government’s unified national effort against the pandemic, said that 52,589 tests were conducted across the country during the past 24 hours, out of which 893 came back as positive.
“The national Covid positivity ratio was 1.69%,” it added.

During the past 24 hours, 24 patients died due to the deadly virus, including those under treatment in the hospitals and in their respective quarantines or homes. The overall death toll since the pandemic outbreak in February 2020 now stood at 28,252.
The national caseload of the contagious disease has risen to 1,263,664. Among them, 1,208,438 people have fully recovered including 13,848 recoveries in the last 24 hours.
