First cargo dispatched to Afghanistan via road

Cargo handling facility at Islamabad Airport to also help dispatch goods from other countries to Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD:

Advisor to the Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood on Friday said the government was fully focused on boosting trade and exports of the country, especially with Afghanistan.

He termed peace in Afghanistan and the strengthening of the bilateral relationship between the two countries as the basis for enhancing bilateral trade.

The prime minister’s advisor highlighted that the first cargo handling from Islamabad airport to Afghanistan was a historic moment.

He was talking to the media on the occasion of dispatching the first cargo to Afghanistan via road.

On the proposal of the WF Integral, the customs department had taken this initiative to dispatch cargo to Afghanistan.

Razzak said despite having the facility of cargo handling at Islamabad Airport, the complex remained inactive for international transportation.

He added that the cargo handling facility at Islamabad Airport would also help in dispatching goods coming from other countries to Afghanistan.
