Commissioner holds meeting to improve city life

Tells DCs to sort out civic issues and submit monthly report

Newly-posted Karachi Division Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon held a meeting with deputy commissioners of all districts at his office on Wednesday to review implementation of government directives and measures for development and improvement of the city.

In addition to the deputy commissioners, Karachi Additional Commissioner Asad Ali Khan also attended the meeting.

The meeting resolved that all deputy commissioners will make concerted efforts to sort out civic issues and prepare a comprehensive report which will be submitted to the commissioner every month.

The commissioner told deputy commissioners to keep in touch with the citizens and listen to their grievances. He advised the district administrators to take steps in collaboration with the government departments concerned to address complaints filed by the citizens.

The deputy commissioners were directed to improve their contact with citizens and local bodies for the development of the city.

Memon also directed the district officers to provide all possible guidance and help locals resolve issues with the local administration.

The deputy commissioners spoke about the measures that had been taken for the welfare of locals under their respective districts. They also outlined the steps taken for the betterment of the city in the light of the directives of the government.

It was decided that district heads would extend liaison and cooperation with police, local government departments, K-Electric and Sui Gas to achieve the objectives of the government.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of Supreme Court orders to clean rain drains and eliminate encroachments. The meeting also reviewed the performance of the polio eradication campaign and the ongoing dengue situation.

It was decided that deputy commissioners would take all possible steps to prevent the spread of dengue by supporting institutions and departments concerned , including the health department.

The meeting also decided to improve vaccination facilities in the city. The commissioner directed the deputy commissioners to make concerted efforts to improve the efficiency of the 24-hour vaccination centers.
