Military awards conferred on martyrs, army officers, soldiers

About 88 officers were awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 156 officers were awarded the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military)

An investiture ceremony of the Rawalpindi and Mangla Corps was held at Army Auditorium in General Headquarters (GHQ ) on Tuesday during which officers, soldiers and the next of kin of martyred personnel were conferred various awards.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), awards of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat were conferred on army officers and soldiers.

"25 Shaheed soldiers were awarded Tamgha-i-Basalat. Next of kins of Shuhada received their awards posthumously," the military's media wing added.

The ISPR stated that about 67 officers were awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 122 officers were awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) for rendering meritorious services to the nation.

Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was chief guest on the occasion. A large number of senior army officers and families of awardees attended the ceremony, the ISPR added.

Separately, an investiture Ceremony of the Multan, Lahore, Gujranwala and Bahawalpur Corps was held at Lahore Corps HQ.

According to ISPR, awards of Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat were conferred on Army officers and soldiers.

"20 Shaheed Soldiers were awarded Tamgha-i-Basalat. Next of kins of Shuhada received their awards posthumously. (About) 24 officers were awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 34 officers were awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) for rendering meritorious services to the nation," the military's media wing added.

Commander Lahore Corps, Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Aziz was the chief guest on the occasion, the ISPR stated.
