‘Tailored curriculum can solve industries’ problems’

KU inks collaboration agreement with Karachi Association of Trade and Industry

KARACHI:

Encouraging research and forming a curriculum tailored to the needs of the market is required to solve the problems faced by industries, stressed leading academics and businesspeople.

To strengthen academia-industry linkage and build strong working relationships to provide basic job-related training to students to perform well at industrial units, the University of Karachi (KU) and the Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) signed a collaboration agreement at the latter's head office.

A University of Karachi delegation, led by KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, visited the KATI office. The KU delegation included food science and technology, chemistry, microbiology and computer science departments and Karachi University Business School faculty members as well as chairpersons of various departments.

KATI President Saleemuz Zaman said that to stabilise the economy and solve problems of industries, it was necessary to form a curriculum tailored to the needs of the market and to promote research culture.
