QUETTA:

A passenger bus was hijacked by armed men at gun point from a local hotel in Balochistan’s Zhob district late Sunday night.

According to Levies sources, unidentified persons hijacked a bus at Saliza point, a well-known resort in Zhob and fled to an undisclosed location.

The armed assailants also took the luggage belonging to the passengers.

Sources familiar with the matter said the bus was traveling from Quetta to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa via Zhob.

The bus stopped at a local hotel for food when the unfortunate incident took place. This is when the armed men entered the hotel and took the bus.

Levies sources said that as soon as the incident was reported, a heavy contingent of administration officials and Levies reached Saliza and cordoned off the area.

A search operation was subsequently launched. The area was cordoned off on the instructions of Zhob deputy commissioner.

On the other hand, the western bypass in Quetta, Jabal Noor, Zhob and Loralai and Mekhtar roads are closed due to which passengers are facing severe difficulties.

In Loralai, landlords staged a sit-in in front of the deputy commissioner's office.

All the protestors allege that the road in Loralai was closed last night because a bus belonging to the Super Mekhtar Company was snatched in Zhob area.

“Due to the road closure our vehicles filled with fruits have also been stopped due to which the fruits have started rotting,” the protestors said.
