Umer Sharif's condition worsens, US departure delayed

Veteran comedian Umer Sharif has been shifted to the critical care unit (CCU) after his condition deteriorated, Express News reported. The popular star was undergoing dialysis when his blood pressure dropped and he was moved to critical care. Sharif's departure to the United States for treatment has now been delayed. 

Sharif will be under observation for the next 48 hours. The air ambulence, that was supposed to fly out the comedian, has reached Karachi. 

Last week, it was reported that the famous comedian has been issued a US visa where he would be flown to undergo the procedure. Sharif, who has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the metropolis, was deemed fit to fly abroad for further treatment on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Sindh government approved the release of Rs40 million for Sharif's treatment. The funds are to be used to cover the expense of an air ambulance and other related costs for Sharif's treatment abroad, stated the order issued by the provincial finance department, a copy of which is available with The Express Tribune.

"We are committed to bearing the expenses of Umer Sharif Sahib's treatment expenditures," the Sindh government spokesperson, Murtaza Wahab, had said whilespeaking to the publication. He confirmed that the funds have been released and transferred to the family.
