Police register case, launch hunt for suspects

Police booked a man and his family after he allegedly physically assaulted his wife in the city on Sunday.

Reportedly, the victim refused to sell drugs and prostitute herself after which her husband along with his mother and sister allegedly tortured her. The physical assault incident also resulted in the victim suffering from a fracture. Women police registered a case and started searching for the suspects.

According to the police report, a resident of Mohalla Usman Ghani, stated in the case registered at the women's police station that she was married to Mohammad Amir, the son of Siddique.

The victim reportedly had three children. She told police that her mother-in-law identified as Safia, the wife of Sadiq, and sister-in-law Rubina alias Saba, a resident of 232 Bavewali, allegedly forced the victim to sell drugs.

The complainant stated that her in-laws on several occasions forced her to sell drugs and prostitute herself, which she refused to do.

Due to the victim’s refusal, her deranged in-laws would often allegedly beat her.

On the day of the incident, the victim’s husband identified as Aamir along with his mother and sister allegedly physically assaulted his wife using sticks.

The suspects also allegedly dragged the victim after grabbing her by the hair and kept beating her for refusing to sell drugs and prostituting herself.

As a result of the physical assault incident, the victim suffered a fracture.

The victim claimed her husband and in-laws beat her mercilessly using the sticks. After the woman made noise, the locals including Faiz Rasool and Muhammad Javed gathered at the crime scene on which the suspects fled.

Women police registered a case under the provisions of Sections 337A1, 337F1, 337FV, 354, 148 and 149 PPC and started searching for the suspects. Incidents of violence against women have been rampant across the province.

On July 17, a man was booked for setting his wife ablaze after brutal torture in an incident of domestic violence in Kahna.

Reportedly, the suspect was deranged after his wife insisted on not selling their home. The suspect allegedly beat his wife with rods and pipes. After the victim fell unconscious in her bed, the suspect sprinkled petrol and set her on fire.

On June 11, an 18-year-old woman was killed by her in-laws in Batapur, Lahore.

The victim identified as Zainab, a resident of Lakhodar, was married to Ghulam Abbas.

Reportedly, Ghulam and his mother Shakeela Bibi would often subject the victim to severe torture.

On the day of the incident, they beat her up on a minor issue so brutally that she suffered serious injuries and fell unconscious. She later died at a hospital.

On May 30 last year, a woman was tortured by her in-laws in Landianwala with iron rods for not asking for money from her parents. They tortured her with hot knives and tried strangle her.

The victim, a resident of the Ada Bachiana area near Landianwala, got married to Aqib Ali but later domestic disputes erupted due to which she came to her parents’ house.

On the day of the incident, Ali, along with his brothers and mother, tortured her with iron rods and an attempt was made to strangle her with a rope around her neck.

The victim’s in-laws had reportedly already taken more than Rs400,000 from her father to save her marriage.

Now her husband Ali again demanded Rs500,000. She was kicked out of the house when she refused to give that money because her brothers could no longer afford to pay and her father had also died.
