Two men were killed when unidentified men opened fire at a car in Newmill area in the jurisdiction of Bani Gala police station on Saturday.
After receiving information, police reached the site. The motive behind the killings has yet to be ascertained, said the police officials, adding that they were investigating the matter.
The deceased persons were identified as Rashid and Arshad. The bodies were shifted to a hospital for post mortem.
Following the incidents of firing, Islamabad General of Police (IGP) Qazi Jamilur Rehman directed Operations DIG to arrest the culprits. He directed officials to increase snap checking in Islamabad and instructed DIG to oversee it. All zonal SPs, SDPOs and SHOs have been directed to remain in their areas until midnight.

IGP has directed to carry out strict action against the people carrying illegal weapons. He also instructed to check licenses of the arms of security guards. The snap checking has been started to ensure safety of the citizens.
This is the third firing incident in the area in the past couple of days in which two people were killed.
On Friday night, two people, including a woman, died while five others were injured in different firing incidents in the federal capital.
The first incident was reported from Sohan Express Highway in the precincts of Khanna police station. A man shot dead his wife and fled from the crime scene.
Another incident took place near the metro bus station on Link Road in the jurisdiction of I-9 police station. Unidentified men opened fire at the pickup truck, owing to which five people were injured. The victims were moved to a hospital, but Malik Naveed succumbed to his wounds. The other injured include Malik Tahir, driver Saeed Khan, gunman Muhammad Saqib, and Nazakat.
A police team led by Industrial Area SP Fida Satti has been formed to probe into the incident. The police are also taking help with the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to trace the suspects.
