Fake cop nabbed at girls’ college gate

Suspect says he was only trying to 'impress' the girls

KARACHI:

A young cop standing smartly on guard outside Govt Girls College Chand Bibi Road on Saturday turned out to be a fake.

An Eidgah Police Station patrol passing the area when the girls were leaving the college after classes spotted a policeman on duty in impeccable starched uniform sporting dark glasses and acting like a show-off.

“We asked each other who is this ‘joker’ and who has posted him here,” a constable on the patrol said adding that it turned out that nobody recognised him meaning that he was not from the precinct.

The police patrol then called the young cop closer and asked him who has posted him at the girls college gate and from which precinct or branch he was from. The cop turned out to be a phoney.

“I was only trying to impress the girls,” the man later identified as Talha told the police. He had purchased the police uniform and badges from a shop.
