Rescued ship requires minor repairs

The ship will leave for the next destination after paying the port charges

Container vessel Hang Tong 77, that remained stranded on the coast of Karachi for over one month, was navigable and no damages, technical fault or malfunctioning of navigation systme was found as per the inspection of the ship in the government's custody at Karachi Port .

According to the report, apart from minor repairs, no major technical fault was detected, on the basis of which the ship should remain in custody at Karachi port.

According to sources, the final report of the inspection of the ship was submitted to the management. There was no major and mentionable damage to the ship during the 48 days it remained stranded off the coast.

The ship's owner and the captain are waiting for the port charges, naval security and other expenses, they will pay. The ship needs only minor repair works, which is possible at Karachi port. However, the owner of the ship will decide whether the repair works could be carried out here.

According to the documents, obtained by The Express Tribune, the inspection report of the ship was submitted to the authorities.

The report shows no technical faults that may hinder the ship's sailing. The ship was found to be technically navigable. An underwater inspection of the ship also found the bottom of the ship safe. The ship will leave for the next destination after paying the port charges.
