Expresses displeasure over mismanagement at Sialkot district jail

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has removed 15 officers from their posts over negligence in duties, public complaints and poor performance.

During a visit to Sambrial and Sialkot to inspect service delivery and review performance of different government departments on Thursday, Buzdar issued orders for removal of Sambrial Assistant Commissioner, XEN (Irrigation) Marala, DSP Daska and DSP Traffic Sialkot from their posts.

Sambrial’s Chief Officer Municipal Corporation, MS THQ Hospital, AD Land Record and Sialkot’s CO Tehsil Cooperation, Excise and Taxation Officer, DHO, Superintendent District Jail Sialkot, Assistant Superintendent Women District Jail Sialkot, CO MC Pasror, CO MC Daska, Sub Registrar (Rural) and District Health Officer have also been suspended.

The chief minister approved repair of Sambrial Road and carpeting of 12-kilometre long sub-line Sialkot to Sambrial road. During his visit to THQ Hospital Sambrial, CM directed to improve the medical facilities and said new access road would be constructed for THQ Hospital Sambrial and for this purpose he directed the DC Sialkot to complete the land acquisition work. Daska Sambrial Road’s construction and improvement funds would be provided and Shahab Pura Bridge would also be completed, CM added.

The chief minister announced to release the grant of Rs200 million for the construction of the bridge and directed NESPAK MD to complete the project on a fast track. During his visit to district jail Sialkot, the CM reprimanded the superintendent and assistant jail superintendent woman. He expressed displeasure over the mismanagement in district jail Sialkot and directed to improve the facilities for inmates.

Buzdar ordered launching a massive operation against encroachments and further directed the authorities concerned to curb mafias from revenue land record centre Sialkot. He also directed to clean the drains and asked to bring transparency in property tax matters of the excise and taxation department. He appointed secretary excise and taxation inquiry officer to probe the property tax matters.

The chief minister approved the construction of the road from the airport to Sambrial Road and issued instructions to the Sialkot deputy commissioner for the beautification of the city.

The CM met with people present at the deputy commissioner office and directed the authorities to resolve their issues. Provincial ministers Muhammad Akhlaq, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, Member Provincial Assembly Ahsan Saleem Bariyal were also present on this occasion.

Earlier, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar paid a surprise visit to Sambrial and visited THQ Hospital and inspected the facilities being provided to patients.

He also inquired about the health of the patients and asked about the availability of the facilities. The Chief Minister during his visit to the hospital also summoned DPO Sialkot to resolve the matter of a patient tussle and directed to resolve the issue. The chief minister directed the doctors to focus on service to humanity.

After the visit to the THQ Hospital CM visited the land revenue centre in Sambrial and reviewed the performance of the centre. The CM talked to the people present there and gave a patient hearing to them.

Buzdar said 850 revenue centres at the village level have been established for better service delivery to the general public and said up to 8,000 revenue record centres at the village level would be established.

“The land record centres will provide service to people at their doorstep as per the vision of the Prime Minister Imran Khan,” he remarked.

The CM also visited Model Police Station Sambrial and inspected the front desk and Women Help Counter. He also inspected the lockup of the police station and inquired about the problems of the detained persons.

On this occasion, he directed to speed up the construction work on the model police station. After the completion of the visit of Sambrial, CM reached Sialkot District Jail. He visited the jail hospital and inquired about the health of the inmate patients.
