Women Peace Council delegation meets IGP
A delegation of Women Peace Council led by Parveen Sarwar called on Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan on Thursday to prioritise women safety initiatives in the province.
The delegation consisted of Punjab Assembly Standing Committee on Gender Mainstreaming Chairperson Uzma Kardar, Syed Kausar Abbas, Dr Maryam Kayani and Ayesha Jahanzeb.
The IGP apprised the delegation of the multiple projects taken up by the department to end crimes against women and children in particular.
He added that women can get immediate police help in case of any emergency through a single click on the latest Woman Safety App.

He also said that Anti-Harassment and Violence Cells have also been set up in all the districts of the province to facilitate women.
Rao asserted that a database of habitual offenders in crimes against women and children is being prepared to monitor such individuals.
During the meeting, Parveen said that Punjab Police Women Safety App is an excellent tool for safety and women should utilise this service for their wellbeing particularly on road.
