The weather in the city ofKarachi remained hot on Tuesday.

Due to the closure of southwesterly sea winds and hot desert winds of Balochistan, the mercury rose to 40 degrees Celsius with humidity recorded at 33%, the intensity of heat was felt to be higher than the actual temperature.

According to the Meteorological Department's Early Warning Centre for Heatwave, the depression is present in Odisha (eastern India) which is likely to move west and northwest in the next phase. There is another low pressure in Indian Gujarat and Rajasthan, which could bring thundershowers in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Thatta and Badin districts.

The weather is likely to remain hot and extremely hot till September 16, during which the maximum temperature is expected to be between 38 and 40 degrees.

According to Chief Meteorologist Karachi Sardar Sarfraz, the heatwave may continue till Thursday. A low-pressure area is currently present over Indian Gujarat, which is affecting Karachi's sea breeze and winds are blowing from the northwest. The direction of the wind may also change from the northeast, so the mercury may be recorded between 38 and 40 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to the Met Office, the weather is expected to be extremely hot on Wednesday (today) with maximum temperature hovering between 38 and 40 degrees.
