PMSA calls off protest

Hold meeting with CS regarding problems faced by PMS officers

Provincial Management Service Officers Association called off their protest after newly appointed Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal on his first day in office held a meeting with the association and assured them of resolving much of their issues in two months, The Express Tribune has learnt.

According to a statement issued by Chief Secretary Media cells, a four-member delegation of Provincial Management Service Officers Association (PMSA) led by President Naveed Shehzad Mirza called on Punjab Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal at Chief Secretary Office, Civil Secretariat here on Friday.

The problems being faced by the PMS officers came under discussion during the meeting.

The Punjab chief secretary voiced hope that all issues would be resolved soon through mutual consultation. He said that a meeting with the representatives of the association would take place again next week.

The delegates included PMSA General Secretary Zafar Naqvi, Shahid Farid and Taseer Ahmed.

After the meeting, the association announced that they are calling of the protest.

PMSA President Naveed Shehzad Mirza told The Express Tribune said the CS has expressed his resolve in addressing their concerns regarding the provincial services officers seat calculation, promotion and training. He said the CS too was surprised to know about the number of vacant posts in Punjab.

He said that CS holding his first meeting, on his first day in office was a telltale of his seriousness in addressing our concerns. The PMSA had earlier this week had announced to hold a protest outside the CS office on Friday furthermore they had not only threatened to go on a long leave but also vowed to expose to corruption of Pakistan Administrative Service Officers if PMS or PCS officer were not given their due share.
