Four suspects rounded up after exchange of fire

Sadiqabad police booked four suspects with two in an injured condition after a shootout. Four suspects on two motorcycles were signalled to stop near Chatri Chowk but started open firing in return, a spokesperson said on Monday.

In retaliatory firing, two suspects got injured and were held while the other two were booked after a chase. The police officials also seized weapons from the suspects’ possession while their motorbikes did not have registration plates.

The injured suspects have been identified as Faraz and Yasir while the other two are named Shujat and Adil. The officials said that the suspects are nominated in different criminal acts across Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lahore. Their criminal record from other districts of the province has been summoned.

Meanwhile, three people were injured as a result of open firing by suspects over on Doorben Road in the Kallar Syedan area. Rescue 1122 teams shifted the victims to the hospital after administering first aid.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson said 70-year-old Muhammad Latif, 41-year-old Shakil Bashir and 35-year-old Rizwan Shaukat got struck by a bullet in their shoulders.

The injured were shifted to tehsil headquarters (THQ) hospital for treatment, he added.
