Massive reshuffle to jolt police dept

New posting policy has sent ripples throughout Punjab Police as it is going to affect over 200 SHOs throughout the province.

An official shared that over one third of police stations across may witness reshuffle. The reshuffling may be similar to the one at the time of interim set up in May 2018 prior to the 2018 general elections.

At that time, the government had issued orders of transfer of the officers of the rank of inspectors from their range and districts of posting.

Since Punjab IGP announced the policy publicly during his visit to Gujranwala, dozens of SHOs had been transferred in different districts of the province.

As many as 10 SHOs had been transferred in Okara, 10 in Sahiwal, six in Mianwali, 12 in Sheikhupura, Sialkot 11, Jhang eight SHOs, five in Rajanpur and four in DG Khan.

Read DSPs, SHOs not to be posted in home districts

Besides SHOs, other police officers including DSPs, ASPs, inspectors, SIs, ASIs, head constables (HC) and constables rank officers were also going to be reshuffled.

Reportedly, the province has a total of 36 districts.

According to the IGP posting policy, five districts including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan fall into the category of city.

In these districts, ASP and DSP was not supposed to be posted in home sub-division, SHOs should not to be posted in home sub-division, inspector, SI, ASIs non field assignments in home sub-division and HCs, constables should not to be posted in home police station or police post.

In the 31 remaining districts, the officers of the rank of ASP, DSP and SHO were not supposed to be posted in home district.

The officers of the rank of SI and ASI were not to be posted in home sub division and HCs and constables not to be posted in home police station or police post.
