RAWALPINDI:

The police on Thursday arrested the suspect who raped an MSc student after calling her for group studies in the precincts of the New Town police station.

It was learnt during the investigation that the suspect used to blackmail the victim with her videos and photos and also threatened her to kill. The victim informed the police that she was pursuing an MSc degree in electrical engineering.

She established contact with her classmate Muhammad Waqas Mumtaz. The suspect called the female student to an unknown location for group studies and intoxicated her by mixing something in the beverage.

He then threatened the victim of leaking her videos and photos if she complained against him and offered to marry her and deleting the videos if she remained silent about it.

The complainant said that the suspect assaulted her and even usurped cash by blackmailing her. When the suspect learnt that she is intending to initiate legal action, he started visiting her neighbourhood to blackmail the female student, she added.

The student said that three friends of the suspect had also stopped her way and dragged her on the road. The police officials said they have incorporated sections of rape in the first information report against the accused.
