Rs5.5b to be spent on Lodhran uplift
Under the direction of Punjab government, Rs5.5 billion will be spent on 56 schemes in Lodhran under the district development package.
Deputy Commissioner Flight Lieutenant (retd) Imran Qureshi said this while presiding over a meeting of the District Coordination Committee.
The meeting was held in his office. Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Nawab Amanullah Khan, Tahir Khan Malezai, Assistant Commissioner Ashraf Saleh and heads of other departments concerned attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Qureshi directed the officials to complete the public welfare projects as soon as possible.
Deputy Director Development Muhammad Fahad Anwar gave a detailed briefing on development projects. The meeting reviewed the development schemes.

The participants were informed that under the district development package, 16 schemes for road sector, three for health sector, three for higher education, 17 schemes for water and sanitation sector, 15 for local government and community development sector and one for transport and special education are being implemented.
Deputy Commissioner Imran Qureshi said that on the special directive of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the pace of work and the quality of material in public welfare projects would be closely monitored.
He directed the officers to give top priority to the completion of the projects of public interest. The deputy commissioner directed the officers of development departments to closely monitor the completion of projects.
He urged the officers of the departments concerned to ensure coordination and timely completion of public welfare projects.
Addressing the meeting, PTI leader Amanullah Khan and Tahir Khan urged speeding up of the ongoing development projects in the district and ensuring the quality of the work.
He further said that the funds released by the government should be used entirely for development projects. He said that unnecessary delay in completion of projects should be avoided.
