Victim was alleged killer’s cousin and mother of two

A man allegedly strangled his wife to death with the help of his brother and father to fulfill his desire of contracting second marriage in Lodhran on Monday.

The victim was the suspect’s maternal cousin. The couple had married 10 years ago and had two children.

According to the police, Abdul Aziz lodged a registered a case in Karor Pakka police station, stating that his sister Allah Bachai, who was married to Muhammad Iqbal Abdullah about 10 years ago, had been murdered. She had an eight-years-old son Mohsin and six-year-old daughter Hasina Bibi.

The complainant said, “My sister had been ill for some time, due to which Iqbal used to quarrel with her. At about one o’clock in the night, I heard my sister shouting for help. When I reached the spot, I saw Bilal and Abdullah holding my sister’s legs and arms and Iqbal sitting on his chest and strangling her with a cloth.”

He added that he later saw Iqbal, his brother Bilal and father Abdullah running towards nearby fields.

The complainant said he tried to take his sister to a hospital, but she died.

In a similar case reported in June, a man allegedly beat his wife and daughter to death over a petty dispute in Tandlianwala.

Reportedly, after not getting Rs500, the man beat his wife and daughter to death with a stick.

Police handed over the bodies to the relatives after postmortem and arrested the suspect after registering a case against him.

According to the police report, Saleem, son of Wariam, a resident of Gulshan-e-Rehman Colony on the outskirts of Tandlianwala, demanded Rs500 from his wife, 42-year-old Farzana Bibi.

The suspect’s wife refused to give him the money.
