Kidnappers of slain ANP leader killed in Pishin operation
The Quetta police have killed five alleged kidnappers of slain Awami National Party (ANP) leader Malik Obaidullah Kasi in an operation carried out in Balochistan’s Pishin district over the weekend. Kasi, a member of the central committee of ANP was kidnapped from Kuchlak town near Quetta on June 26 by unidentified persons.
His body was recovered three days ago from Saranan Bazar located in Pishin district. The safe recovery of the ANP leader posed a huge challenge for the Quetta police. All available resources were employed to trace and recover the abductee. During the ensuing period after the abduction, kidnappers made ransom calls demanding a substantial amount of money from Kasi’s family.
The police managed to arrest one accused person identified as Juma Gul on Friday who confessed to the crime and gave up the names of his other accomplices that took part in the heinous crime.
As the police party reached the suspected hideout of the criminals, the kidnappers opened indiscriminate firing that was befittingly responded by the police. In the ensuing operation, five criminals were killed while others managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness.
