Pindi district included in ‘Apna Ghar’ project
Rawalpindi district has also been formally included in the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s “Apna Ghar” housing project.
Under the project, three-storey flats will be constructed on 14 kanals of land owned by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) near the old Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
The families living below the poverty line will be given these houses in easy installments at subsidized rates. The contract for the construction of these houses has been awarded, which will be completed by December 2022.
The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has also paved roads from Chaklala Railway Station Dry Port to the project’s location for Rs443.185 million for easy transportation to these flats.

The construction of the project will be started after the Independence Day celebrations, for which heavy machinery is being sent to the site next week. Earlier, Rawalpindi district was not included in the PM’s housing scheme. However, now being the twin city of the federation, both the district and division have been included. Later, the schemes will be launched Attock district.
A regular lottery, along with the plotting for the project in Hazro Tehsil of Attock, has also been completed.
RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza told The Express Tribune that it was their responsibility to build the main road for the housing scheme. “Now the federation is all set to start construction of flats,” he said.
Provincial Parliamentary Secretary Revenue Adnan Chaudhry said that this is federal CDA land that has been relinquished from the land mafia groups.
