Radio programme being launched to raise awareness about the disease

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid met a delegation of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to discuss the way forward to control the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Punjab.

The delegation comprised UNDP resident representative Aliona Nikolita and Assistant resident representative Amir Khan Goraya.

Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education (SH&ME) Department Additional Secretary Dr Salman Shahid was also present on the occasion. The resident representative appreciated the measures taken by the provincial government to control the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

The provincial health minister further said, “Free treatment and diagnosis services are being provided to people in Punjab. The Punjab AIDS Control programme under the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department is facilitating HIV/AIDs patients. The screening of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis and TB is being gradually scaled up in Punjab.”

“A radio programme is being launched to create awareness about the infectious diseases".

The progress of all vertical programmes is being monitored regularly.
