Army pays homage to Maj Tufail on his 63rd martyrdom anniversary

His fortitude, determination and valour remain hallmarks of a soldier who dares to fulfil his mission, says DG ISPR

The Pakistan Army has paid homage to Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed, the second recipient of Nishan-e-Haider, on his 63rd martyrdom anniversary on Sunday.

"Nation salutes Major Tufail Muhammad Shaheed; second recipient of Nishan-e-Haider, on his 63rd martyrdom anniversary," DG ISPR said in a tweet.

"His fortitude, determination and valour remain hallmarks of a soldier who dares to fulfil his mission at all costs."

Every year, the anniversary is celebrated with traditional fervour and the valour of the Nishan-e-Haider awardee.

Nishan-e-Haider is conferred upon soldiers who perform acts of great heroism in circumstances of extreme danger, or to those who demonstrate the bravery of the highest order or devotion to the country in the presence of the enemy.

On July 27, the 73rd martyrdom anniversary of Pakistan's first Nishan-e-Haider, Captain Raja Muhammad Sarwar, was observed.

According to ISPR, a wreath-laying ceremony was held at Sarwar's native village of Sanghori in Gujar Khan. Major General Shahid Nazir laid the floral wreath and offered prayers on behalf of army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
