KARACHI:

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman censured the Sindh government on Sunday over its mishandling of coronavirus vaccinations and failure to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Visiting the vaccination centre at Expo Centre, Rehman accused the provincial government of taking measures without consideration.

"On the one hand the Sindh government talks about SOPs implementation while on the other it is failing to maintain SOPs right outside the vaccination centre." Thousands of people gathered outside the centre but the provincial government did not make any arrangements to handle the situation, he said.

Despite announcing some 250 centres across the metropolis, the Sindh government did not properly spread information regarding the centres, compelling citizens to throng the Expo Centre, regretted the JI leader.

He condemned the decision to impose the lockdown abruptly without considering daily wage earners and labourers and while ignoring ground realities.

The JI leader urged that the government ensure SOPS, facilitate those who are willing to get inoculated and take back its decision to impose a lockdown.

Besides, the provincial government should control the price of oxygen cylinders in Karachi, he said.
