Sindh Minister for Information Nasir Hussain Shah condemned the remarks of Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry on the qualifications of the higher judiciary.
"I condemn the remarks of Fawad Chaudhry on the competence of judges of the superior courts," Nasir Shah said in a statement. He said that these remarks were uncalled for. When the conduct or competence of judges cannot even be discussed in the parliament how can a federal minister imply that a judge is incompetent? he asked.
He said that now that his remarks have stigmatized the honourable judges it is important that "I must mention this at the very outset that we have the utmost respect for the Honourable Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court who is not only the senior most judge of the province but also a very competent judge."
He said that the Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court is the senior most and very competent also. "Besides there is no Sindhi speaking judge in the apex court after justice Faisal Arab's retirement. "Like the Chief Justice of Balochistan who is a Baloch and has been elevated to the SC, we expect that the Chief Justice of Sindh too will be elevated to the top court of the country," he concluded.
