The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur has officially announced the results for the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test(MDCAT) 2024, conducted across Sindh, with students from Karachi leading in the success rate for both BDS and MBBS, Express News reported.
The test, organized by the SEBA Testing Service on December 8, was held for admissions to medical, dental colleges, and universities in the province, under the directives of the court.
The MDCAT 2024 was conducted simultaneously in various cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Larkana, and Sukkur where a total of 38,684 candidates registered for the test, with 32,208 candidates attending, while 6,476 candidates were absent.
During the entrance exam, IBA Sukkur reported five cases of cheating and three cases of fake candidates.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had set the minimum passing criteria at 55% for MBBS and 50% for BDS. In total, 13,718 candidates successfully passed for MBBS, and 16,072 candidates passed for BDS across Sindh.
According to the results issued by IBA Sukkur, the overall success rate for MBBS was 42.59%, while the success rate for BDS was 49.90%.
As per the results, from the Police Training School Larkana, 36.19% of candidates passed in MBBS, and 43.56% in BDS whereas, at the Public School Hyderabad, the success rate for MBBS was 41.44%, while for BDS it was 47.93%.
At Mehran University of Engineering and Technology Jamshoro, 36.32% passed MBBS, and 43.32% passed BDS. At Quaid-e-Azam University of Engineering, Sciences, and Technology Nawabshah, the success rate was 34.58% for MBBS and 41.62% for BDS.
From IBA Public School Sukkur, 38.01% of candidates passed MBBS and 44.4% passed BDS.
Students from Karachi lead the overall exams, with more than 50% passing both the MBBS and BDS exams.
At NED University Karachi, the success rate was 52.92% for MBBS and 60.92% for BDS, while at Karachi University, 53.93% of candidates passed MBBS and 62.72% passed BDS.
