Each Pindi UC to have water filtration plant
Each union council of Rawalpindi will have at least one water treatment plant. The Aab Pak Authority (APA) Punjab has approved the installation of 542 filtration plants across the province including in Rawalpindi. The Punjab government has earmarked funds worth Rs1.57 billion for the filtration plants project.
The foundation stone of the project in Rawalpindi would be laid in at a special event on August 2. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar will the chief guest while APA Convener and MNA Sadaqat Ali Abbasi, PTI lawmakers of Rawalpindi division and other officials will attend the event.
Sources said that at least one filtration plant will be installed in all union councils of the Rawalpindi division while densely populated UCs will have up to three filtration plants.

MNA Sadaqat Ali Abbasi said that all filtration plants would be given to the supervision of the locals. He said that the authority will initially install the filtration plants and run them for a year before handing them over to the people.
The lawmaker said the project has been envisaged to provide clean drinking water to the masses of urban areas and far-flung and remote villages.
He said that the water filtration plants will be installed in a maximum of 90 days.
