Twitter has field day over Jared Leto’s ‘House of Gucci’ transformation

The actor looks unrecognisable for his role as Paolo Gucci in the film

Hollywood star Jared Leto is known for his outrageous transformations for movie roles, and the Suicide Squad actor has delivered once again for his upcoming role as Paolo Gucci in Ridley Scott’s House of Gucci. In the recently released trailer, Leto looks unrecognisable, donning a fat suit for the role, complete with a balding head and bushy moustache. The actor has previously undergone major transformations for his character as the Joker in Suicide Squad, as well for the critically-acclaimed Dallas Buyers Club.

As expected, the transformation was quick to get Twitter talking. Several uses tweeted about the actor's range, citing his previous films.

However, some weren’t all that impressed, and the reactions were just too hilarious to ignore. A couple of tweets helped put into words what was already on everyone’s mind.

On how Jared Leto may be stealing potential roles from other white men

An uncanny resemblance

And finally,

The crime drama set in 90s Italy will follow the murder and aftermath of Maurizio Gucci, Italian businessman and head of the fashion house Gucci, by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. Maurizio's wife (played by Lady Gaga in the film) was convicted of hiring a hitman to kill her estranged husband outside his Milan office in 1995 in a mafia-style hit. During the trial that attracted global media's attention, she was labelled the "Black Widow" by the Italian press.

Maurizio was at one time head of the fashion label and his death was a really high-profile case in Italy at the time. On the other hand, Reggiani served 18 years in prison before being released in 2016.

She denies the charge to date and according to Vogue, in an attempt to get the verdict overturned, her two daughters argued a brain tumour had affected their mother's behaviour. The cast also includes Adam Driver, Al Pacino and Salma Hayek. House of Gucci will premiere in theatres in November.
