HYDRABAD:

Caving in to the recurrent protests of the rickshaw drivers decrying collection of toll tax on the Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas Road, the local authorities have decided to reduce the amount of tax on the three-wheelers and private cars travelling within a five kilometre radius of the toll plaza.

Hyderabad Commissioner Muhammad Abbass Baloch directed the deputy commissioners and the SSPs of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas to survey private vehicles and rickshaws of the residents living in the 5-km proximity of toll plazas. The company is currently charging Rs45 per crossing from the three-wheelers and Rs90 from cars and jeeps. The commissioner said only one-time tax during 24 hours with a reduced amount should be charged from such vehicles.
