Wouldn't have broken five bones, had I been wearing a seat belt: Ayesha Omar
In December 2015, actors Ayesha Omar and Azfar Rehman met with an accident on Karachi Super Highway. The actors were travelling from Karachi to Hyderabad when the accident occurred. In an attempt to avoid collision with an oncoming trailer truck, their car was hit by another truck from behind before it went on to hit the oncoming truck anyway.
Azfar’s driver remained unhurt while Azfar received a gash on his head and Ayesha broke her collar bone. Time and again, she had recalled the unfortunate incident and thanked her lucky stars to have survived.
Recently, Shaniera Akram called out lovebirds Minal Khan and Ahsan Mohsin Ikram for not taking road safety measures seriously. Now, the Bulbulay star has agreed with the activist, saying she would have saved breaking her bones if she had worn a seatbelt.
"I would have saved myself five broken bones in my car accident five years ago, had I been wearing a seatbelt (and I was in the backseat)," Ayesha recalled, adding, "I always make it a point to wear one now. Front or backseat, you always need a seat belt."
In a video posted to Instagram by the actor, Minal can be seen sitting in the passenger seat of a car, singing and enjoying the rain with no seatbelt in sight, while Mohsin is driving while recording on his phone.
Shaniera wrote on social media in response, “Come on guys, you’re famous and have millions of followers! Is it too hard to be a little more responsible? Put your seatbelt on and eyes on the road!”
She later took to Twitter to write, “Fair enough, you don’t think you need to wear a seatbelt, that’s fine, that’s your life you’re risking! But what’s worse than losing your life in a car accident? Living the rest of your life, every day, regretting your decision to not put a seatbelt on your child!”
Speaking of her accident, Ayesha in an interview with The Express Tribune had shared, "Just as it was happening, I realised it would be a bad accident. I thought either I would die or get badly injured. And then, my entire life flashed before me."
