Minister orders cleanliness across city

Plan devised to conduct zero waste operation prior to holidays

Punjab Minister for Local Government and Community Development Department (LGCDD) Mian Mahmoodur Rashid has directed agencies concerned to make the best possible cleanliness arrangements in the city on the occasion of Eidul Azha holidays.

He highlighted that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had already issued special instructions regarding cleanliness arrangements on the eve of Eidul Azha. The chief minister had announced to pay surprise visits to different districts to review the performance of departments and agencies concerned, the provincial minister added.

He further said that the local government department as well as solid waste management companies across the province should perform their duties more actively on the occasion of Eid.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Secretary (CS) Jawwad Rafique Malik directed the officials concerned to prepare a comprehensive plan for the disposal of offal of sacrificial animals and maintain sanitation in major cities across the province.

The CS asked the divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to go to the field and review arrangements for cleanliness ahead of Eidul Azha holidays themselves.

Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) chief executive officer said more than 1.5 million waste bags would be distributed among citizens in Lahore for disposal of offal.
