JI ameer expresses concern over ‘knife attack’ on Mufti Usmani

Sirajul Haq inquired about his health and discussed a number of matters of their mutual interest

KARACHI:

Jamaat e Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer Sirajul Haq expressed concerns over reported life attempt on renowned religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani after he called on the later on Friday .

A man, later over powered and handed over to police, had reportedly taken out a dagger when he was seeking for a meeting with the scholar.

Sirajul Haq inquired about his health and discussed a number of matters of their mutual interest.

The two sides, during the meeting, discussed the prevailing political situation, the government's policies towards religious seminaries, FATF related legislation and the bill targeting family system of the society in the name of legislation against torture in the family.

It was agreed during the meeting that religious scholars and seminaries will continue their positive role in the society.

Haq said that the government was taking steps to limit the role of Mosques in the society on the behest of international powers and monetary institutions.
