Governor inaugurates women protection helpline in Multan

LAHORE:

Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has announced 508 projects of Punjab Aab-e-Pak Authority with an estimated cost of Rs1.4 billion to provide clean drinking water for the people of the southern region of the province.

He also inaugurated the Punjab Women Protection Helpline and participated in a mango festival after arriving in Multan on Thursday on a two-day visit. He visited the Mukhtar Ahmad Sheikh Memorial Welfare Hospital.

The governor and his wife also visited the Social Welfare Complex and inaugurated a special helpline for the protection of women. While addressing the ceremony, he said that the rights of women were being ensured in every welfare project of the federal and Punjab governments, including the Ehsas Programme.

Speaking during his visit to the mango festival along with Punjab Ministers Dr Akhter Malik and Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, the governor said the government was taking revolutionary steps for the business community that were unprecedented.

"Every penny allocated for South Punjab will be spent in a 100% transparent manner for the welfare, development and prosperity of the people," he added. Apart from visiting the Mohammed Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, the governor inaugurated water filtration plants at Tayyip Erdogan Hospital and Mohalla Bilal in Muzaffargarh.
