Sharjeel Memon granted bail till first week of August

Court also barred NAB from arresting the PPP leader.

ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted interim bail to the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon in the Sindh Roshan Programme corruption case till the first week of August.

The court also barred the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from arresting the PPP leader. A two-member divisional bench of IHC comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani and Justice Babar Sattar heard the case on Monday.

The suspect in his bail petition pleaded with the court to grant him bail till a judgement in the case was pronounced.

He added that the NAB Rawalpindi issued a call-up notice to him and summoned him to the office to record a statement on Monday.

Earlier, the PPP leader had not appeared before NAB, citing Sindh Assembly proceedings as an explanation. He is facing allegations of receiving bribes and kickbacks in the Sindh Roshan Programme project.
