Uzair Baloch says never gave ‘confessional statement’
The alleged gangland boss of the crime-infested Lyari neighbourhood, Uzair Baloch, on Friday said he never gave the confessional statement about collecting extortion money and sending share to Pakisan Peoples Party leaders.
A special ATC adjourned on Friday the hearing of the case pertaining to murders, attack on police and other offences. Accused Lyari gangster, Uzair Baloch deviated from his confessional statement during a hearing at the Karachi Central Jail.
Baloch claimed in the court that he never confessed to any allegations against him. He maintained that Judicial Magistrate Imran Imam Zaidi was not appearing before the court despite being summoned. "Zaidi should be summoned and questioned if I ever gave a confessional statement or not," stated Baloch. At this, the court adjourned the hearing till July 15 after recording Baloch's statement.

Following his arrest in 2015, a confessional statement by the alleged crime lord appeared in 2016 in which he confessed to committing criminal activities in connivance with the Karachi police and political set-up in the province.
As per the statement, he confessed to have collected Rs20 million extortion from different persons and departments every month, adding that the fisheries department would pay Rs2 million and gave Rs10 million per month to a senior leader of PPP.
However, Baloch has denied this confessional statement and said, "Magistrate Zaidi should state under a holy oath if he had actually recorded this statement attributed to me."
Triple-murder suspect gets bail
A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) accepted on Friday the interim bail of an accused in a triple-murder case. The ATC was hearing the case at Karachi Central Jail.
At the outset of the hearing, the counsel representing the accused maintained that his client, Syed Fahad Shah wanted to face the trial in the concerned court and defend himself in the case. He moved the court to grant a bail to Fahad in the case. At this, the court accepted Fahad's interim bail plea against the surety of Rs100,000 and restricted the police from arresting Fahad till July 13.
According to police, Fahad and his accomplices shot and injured three in Bakra Piri, Malir in 2014. The injured men succumbed to their injuries shortly.
Separately, an ATC remanded five accused in judicial custody for five days in the case pertaining to the attack on Bahria Town Karachi (BTK). The accused were presented before the court after the expiry of their physical remand.
The court directed the police to present the accused with co-accused others before the court on July 6. According to police, the accused allegedly vandalized and attacked BTK. They were arrested with the help of CCTV footage.
