NAB Sindh inquiring into 144 cases

KARACHI: At present 144 inquiries and 97 investigations are being carried out by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sindh. Acting chairman of NAB, Javaid Zia Kazi, visited NAB Sindh on Tuesday and was briefed on operational and administrative matters by DG Sindh Ali Nawaz Pirzada and other officials.

They told Kazi that three references have been filed by NAB Sindh during 2010 and 14 references are ready for submission in the accountability courts.

All ongoing inquiries and investigations should be completed quickly and fairly, instructed the Chairman NAB. He was also informed that a total of 64 court cases and three investigations had been closed at NAB Sindh under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and had then been reopened.

Kazi emphasised that these cases should be seriously pursued. He also called for early completion of cases against builders, developers and cooperative societies to provide justice to people who had been wronged.

In reference to the case of Sehwan Development Authority, it was said that Rs17 million have already been distributed among the affectees while an additional amount of Rs3 million will also be distributed among them soon.

The Acting Chairman also directed the Investigation Officer to complete the investigation in the case of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar’s shrine’s renovation.
