Alleged robber caught getting medical treatment at Civil Hospital

KARACHI:

Three suspects were arrested after being shot and injured in separate encounters in the city on Sunday night.

Two suspected robbers were reportedly held after being shot and injured during an alleged encounter with Shah Latif Town Police.

The arrested suspects, identified as Imdad Shah, 22, and Zameer Hussain, 30, were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre under police custody.

According to Shah Latif Town Police, weapons, stolen cash and mobile phones and other items were confiscated from the possession of suspects.

Per criminal records, both the suspects are habitual criminals, involved in various street crimes and robberies, said the police, adding that the suspects were booked in a case and investigations were launched against them.

Moreover, another suspect, earlier wounded in an alleged encounter with Shershah Police, was arrested from Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital.

According to Eidgah Police Station In-charge ASI Anwer Baloch, a wounded man, identified as Muhammad Waseem, 20, came to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital, soon after an encounter was reported in Shershah area, and claimed that he was shot and injured by robbers for resisting a robbery bid at Mai Kolachi Road.

However, the police took Waseem into custody on the basis of suspicion as he continuously contradicted his own statements, said the ASI.

Waseem revealed during the initial interrogation that he was shot during crossfire between him and Shershah Police but he and his accomplice managed to escape, he added.

The official further stated that Shershah Police was informed about the arrest, who took Waseem in their custody to further the probe and course of action.
