President offers message of hope on Independence Day
Kicking off the celebrations of the nation’s 64th year of independence, President Asif Ali Zardari offered a message of optimism and hope in a televised late night address to the nation on Saturday.
“We will rise from the ashes and build a strong Pakistan,” in a speech delivered in Islamabad that mixed a heavy dose of realism about current challenges with an optimistic outlook on the country’s future.
The President said that the Pakistan Peoples Party is determined to pursue the objective of taking Pakistan onto the path of progress and democracy, and added that he is aware of the problems faced by the country currently.
He said that Pakistan has the capacity to resolve all its matters and will survive on its own, but it will take time to resolve issues that have been created in more than 60 years.
He said that more could have been achieved if the democratic process had not been repeatedly subverted and the constitution abrogated by dictators.

Assalam-o-Allaikum Warahmatullah.Mr. president Zordari you are right but would you like to give the positive hope to the whole nation that corruption,jeopardy,nepotism and lawlessness shall be eradicated from whole Pakistan from grass root levels from common man to leadership?If you can do so then this will be the your great benevolence on the nation and Pakistan.
This was bound to happen, in about 18 months time elections are due to take place and thus this presents an excellent opportunity for the PPP led government to bluff people and win their trust for the next term.
Hope we already have had our lessons!

Mr President Sir I believe on your next speech you should emphasize on our incompetent structure which is a main hurdle of Pakistan's development well being and obviously a dying state of democratic understandings of a Local Pakistani.Sir we all believe that you must also be facing supreme issues by dealing with this incompetent group and you must be quite certain of eradicating them or us in a very superior way.
Sir your speeches have always left a very positive impact on our 70% below average lower Mediocre class as they start hoping for their betterment,I beg u to develop a speech for those 30% Pakistani's who r trying to run this country with your Govt and they do not see any betterment in the coming future.Please develop a speech for them also. We are living on "HOPES" for last 64 years
Yes PAKISTAN will rise from the ashes to be one of the greatest countries on the face of the earth. And I have no doubt that if & insha-Allah President Asif Ali Zardari can remain at the helm for two terms, he will go down as the most effective & developmental Presidents of Pakistan !
I've heard this before. Sounds like electioneering already. Pakistan has the "capacity to resolve its matters and will survive on its own?" Well, this is a highly contentious statement, most especially with Pakistan heavily reliant on foreign aid and loans just to survive each day. Didn't Pakistan also beg the international community to assist it in last year's floodings? Unfortunately, Ban Ki-Moon's appeal failed to raise the US$2 billion needed for reconstruction and rehabilitation. Anyway, if Pakistan could "survive on its own," it should do away with this so-called "Friends of Democratic Pakistan." All Pakistani officials should also omit in their speeches such high-sounding constructs like "globalization" and "interdependence." No wonder SAARC will never take off, since Pakistan believes it can "survive on its own."
Or does it mean that the plan is to rise from the ashes, so we first need to first go down in ashes..and then rise from it??? May Allah have mercy on our priceless yet abused motherland. Ameen
