LAHORE:

At least four students of Government Science College Wahdat Road were injured in a clash between two rival student groups on Friday.

In a video message, a student claimed that some suspects were involved in harassing and torturing students. They would detain and torture them for no reason and also harass them through police and administration, he alleged.

A clash erupted over sharing of this video in which four students were injured. DSP Iqbal Town Mustehsin Shah said it was a dispute between the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) and hostel residents.

“Who was the trouble maker? This will be ascertained after investigations, he remarked. An FIR has been launched in this regard.

On a question regarding a reported death of a student, Shah said Lahore Jinnah Hospital records where the injured students were shifted did not mention any death.

Government Science College Wahdat Road is situated right next to Punjab University. A few days back, the university administration had arrested a suspected student with over three dozens bottles of liquor trying to enter the university.

He revealed during investigations that he was smuggling these bottles to the head of the IJT.

An incident of beating up a student at the canteen by the IJT activists was also reported at the Punjab University. Reportedly, the IJT activists were annoyed after they saw a girl sitting with her male class fellow in a canteen.
