Police said suspect managed to escape after the killing the women and they were conducting raids to apprehend the suspect.

Police said the man identified as Shahbaz, a resident of Tibba Sultanpur, shot at his married sister to punish her for contracting love marriage.

The suspect also opened fire at his sister-in-law Zarina who tried to protect Kausar from gunshots. She too died in the incident. Sources said the brother of suspect Shahbaz had married his sister Kausar to Ramzan, a resident of Dunyapur and Shahbaz was unhappy with that decision.

To avenge this decision which was taken against his will, Shahbaz shot and killed both his sister and sister-in-law.

City police have requested Tehsil Headquarters Hospital officials to conduct postmortem examination of the victims.

Reportedly, the husbands of the slain women are based out of the country for employment.

District Police Officer (DPO) Abdul Rauf Babar has formed a team to arrest the accused and investigate on merits.
